March: Emergency Car Kit

Plan Ahead for Lifes Detours

What if you were stranded in your car overnight in inclement weather. Are you prepared? It just takes an afternoon to grab a 5 gallon bucket and fill it with some supplies. Here is a basic list of some important things to include:

  • change of clothes for all family members (here in Colorado always include warm clothing)
  • a couple of blankets (shrink them with your bag sealer)
  • a candle with matches/lighter
  • snacks and gallon of water
  • flash light
  • heat packs
  • small shovel
  • sturdy work gloves
  • toilet paper

February: 72 Hour Kits

How to get started!
  • Water (and a method of water purification)
  • Hygiene Kit (soap, toothbrush, comb, deodorant, washcloth, tissue, sanitary napkins, etc...)
  • Sunblock and insect repellent
  • Food (High energy bars, ramen noodles, dried fruit or beef jerky and extra food)
  • Warmth & Shelter (sleeping bag or wool blanket and a tent)
  • Hand & body warm packs (inlcude matches and a second method to start a fire)
  • Poncho
  • Light sources (flashlight, Light sticks and a Candle)
  • Tools (Pocket knife, shovel, 50ft nylon rope and a Hatchet )
  • First Aid Kit
  • Emergency Radio
  • Whistle with neck cord
  • Extra Clothing (Include socks, underwear, hat and sturdy gloves)
  • Mess Kit ( bowl with handle, fork/spoon, and a cup
  • Stress Relievers (Candy, book and small game)
  • 5 gallon bucket for Portable Toilet (Include trash bags and disinfectant)
  • Cooking Equipment (Light weight stove and fuel with cooking utensils)*
  • Money (20 dollars and include coins/ can tape under lid of bucket)
  • Special Needs: Medication, infant formula, etc...
  • Back Pack or 5 gallon bucket (Water proof )
